Week 5 Summary

Week 3 of Stage 2 & Week 5 of the SWITCH 360 Project sees our participants are undertaking a set routine of Switch On and Switch Off activities for the 5 week process of Stage 2. They will monitor and evaluate their personal wellness, happiness, fitness and health levels as well as make further progressions towards their personal goals on this amazing journey to live better.

The Week

Sunday 19th March

The 5th week started off with our second of 3 sessions at Bounce as our way of continuing to showcase our participants how to incorporate some ‘fun’ but fitness based activity as a new way to Switch On. This week they were joined by some personal friends in a group fitness class that uses trampolines and your whole body to move in an energetic and high tempo way, inspired and motivated by the awesome instructor Ediger Ssentongo.

Monday 20th March

This session of FITLIFEDXB Bootcamps was cancelled due to another low visibility, high wind sandstorm around the city.

The Switch 360 participants would have had their 3rd session of 5 weeks of Boot Camp sessions at The Villa near Silicon Oasis with the team from FitLifeDXB. The next 2 sessions will take place with FitLifeDXB Boot Camps at various locations around Dubai and culminate in their performance being assessed by FitLifeDXB at the final boot camp.

Tuesday 21st March

Another Switch On day through the high tempo experience of Group Class Sessions as part of their fitness regime to help them understand and participant in a new environment, with high tempo routines, energetic instructors and fab music, all designed to get you moving so your body obtains a full workout, your heart rate is monitored and you can push yourself accordingly, they also have a competition based routine so you can challenge yourself or your workout buddies, believe me it is awesome!. The team undertook Yalla Fitness group class ‘PRAMA’ in the Functional Fitness Studio with their amazing and energetic instructor Dragana Atanacković

Wednesday 22nd March

With Ask For Life and their amazing Yoga Classes on the rooftop at The Four Seasons Hotel at DIFC the participants were shown some new ways to use Yoga to help with mental wellbeing, relaxation and also become more flexible and body movement aware so they can improve their fitness and wellness and obtain more knowledge about Living Better. This was accompanied by some bells and bowls chimes from Sonic Tribe as a way to help them relax through the poses with Emma.

Through Yoga they will learn to develop a greater awareness of their physical and psychological states. As a result, they can be in a position to better manage their reactions. Yoga gives them control of themselves, clears the clutter and allows them to get back in touch with their inner self.

Thursday 23rd March

Thursday saw more of the participants being able to attend the fun, fantastic and unique was to keep or get fit with Aqua Fit. This week they had private sessions booked so they could do alone, push themselves and monitor their own kcal burnt during their session, this was their idea and we welcomed such self inspired challenges.

This is an amazing new concept involving cycling in water to reduce stress on the joints, this will enable our participants to get used to the cycling movements and motions involved with cycling, help improve the fitness and cardio vascular endurance levels before undertaking group Cycling classes in Stage 3 (see we take care of them but push them too!).

Thursday 23rd March

Last week our participants received some awesome Home Workout Equipment courtesy of Perform Better Middle East, from Commercial Director Karla McDermott, to support and encourage our participants to continue their fitness plans, regimes and goals whilst at home.

This week they received a Home Workout video from SwitchDXB head coach Phill Robson showcasing exercises they can do at home with the items provided by Perform Better Middle East.

Friday 24th March

Unfortunately the Desert Warrior Challenge was cancelled due to harsh weather conditions, the participants are still aiming to attend the next event in October.

They were looking forward to enduring the brand new obstacle Walk the plank at the Desert Warrior Challenge at Ajman. This would have brought out their Inner Warrior’s as the SWITCH360 Team were going to launch themselves from an 8m high plank into the waters below. This is just one of the many most exhilarating obstacles during the 5KM course as part of the DWC Ajman 17, which has now been postponed until October, where we foresee this event being another way to showcase how much our participants will have improved and been inspired to ‘give it a go’ as a team and as friends on a journey to living better, together with SWITCH DXB.

Saturday 25th March

As a way to SWITCH ‘OFF’ and being an Annual International event that showcases the glitz, glamour and lifestyle of Dubai we took our participants to the ‘Dubai World Cup’ and treated them to a well deserved day of the high life as a reward for the progress made so far as part of the SWITCH 360 Project to showcase ways in Dubai to live better through the 2 pillars of SWITCH DXB, Switch On and Switch Off.
